Frederick Buck, 19, was tried and convicted at the Old Bailey on 8 July 1830 for stealing one crown, four half-crowns, six shillings and four sixpences from the till of the Rose & Crown hotel on 28 May 1830. He was sentenced to seven years’ transportation.
