I am descended from a convict Elizabeth Celey/Sealy, who was convicted in 1795 and arrived in NSW in 1798. I have never heard of any connection with Joseph Podmore, so this may be coincidence.

Hi Sophie
Sorry for delay in reply,
If you go to my web site you will see some of my collection.
I have a few that are very similar in style to the ones you hold!

Hi, Wonder if any one knows why there are two different sets of names on this coin? Any thoughts?

Hi Paul - we have not yet traced the history of this particular token. It is an interesting question and does make you wonder what the story behind the engraving is. There are many possibilities including that the token may not be a convict token but some other form of keepsake - even that raises some questions! We will certainly keep digging and hope for a solution.

Indeed! It would be great to hear more about your collection -(I'd love to see an image of your similar example) each token is so rich and there are so many possibilities. It is great to know what is out there in private collections as looking at types, patterns and different stories helps us to piece together puzzles such as this one.
