This token may relate to John Harris, 18, a hawker from Portsmouth. He was a member of a gang that attacked Thomas Webb, stealing his watch as he left the licensed victuallers’ dinner near Cornhill. Tried and convicted at London Gaol Delivery in February 1830, Harris was sentenced to transportation for life. He sailed for New South Wales on the Adrian on 13 April 1830. Harris received a conditional pardon in 1842.
