Charles Wilkinson, 17, a collar grinder from Clerkenwell, was tried and convicted at the London Gaol Delivery for stealing a handkerchief valued at two shillings. Wilkinson and his accomplice William Parker were sentenced to transportation for life. Wilkinson sailed for Van Diemen’s Land (Tasmania) on the Lady East on 4 November 1824. He received a further seven-year sentence for stealing on 4 April 1829. He was granted a conditional pardon in 1842 and a free pardon in 1844.

Token engraved with several lines of text and a rough pattern of triangles scratched as a border. The word ‘FOR’ is in the centre of the coin and surrounded by a heart. There are also light scratches scored across the text:

Token engraved with lines of text and designs. The word ‘FOR’ is in the centre of the coin and surrounded by a heart crossed with two arrows. There is light scratching over the surface of the coin and some cross-hatched triangular designs on either side of the date at the base:
